In Loving Memory of Andrey Shcherbenok
With deep sorrow, the School of Advanced Studies (SAS) at the University of Tyumen announces the passing of its founding director, Andrey Shcherbenok.
Andrey was the creator and architect of the SAS vision — a space of international dialogue, intellectual rigor, and educational experimentation. Under his leadership, SAS became a pioneering institution in Russian higher education, known for its bold interdisciplinarity and deep commitment to shaping a new generation of intellectual vanguard.
He shaped a unique academic culture and gathered a remarkable community of scholars and students, all inspired by his energy, clarity of purpose, and intellectual honesty. His loss is immeasurable — for the School, and for all who had the chance to know him, learn from him, and work with him.
The memory of Andrey will live on in the people and ideas he brought together — and in the spirit of SAS, which he shaped with unwavering dedication. His intellectual legacy and the DNA of the School he created will continue to guide our work, remaining true to the vision he so passionately embodied.
Sincerely,
The SAS Administration
