Internship of SAS Students of the “Film and Media” Major
Varvara Denisova and Ivan Kuznetsov, 4th year SAS students of the “Film and Media” major, took part in the work on a large-scale documentary travel project “The Big Urals. Let's go!” Its idea is to tell about small towns and villages of the Sverdlovsk region.
In 2023, Varvara and Ivan worked on shooting six videos of the project. Varvara worked as a videographer and said that all the places were unique in their own way.
“I aimed to capture as much detail as possible so that it would then come together into an overall composition for representation in the video,” she said.
Ivan was a sound recordist and logger, and the project “The Big Urals. Let's go!” was his first experience of media expeditions.
“Each day felt like a separately shot movie. There were a lot of locations, people, the cameramen found interesting places, angles, objects. Producers thought out the plan three steps ahead, prepared locations for the next days, monitored the situation,” Ivan shared.
We are proud of our students, because they were not only able to try themselves in the profession, but also put into practice the knowledge gained during their studies at SAS, in particular, in the courses “Film Theory,” “The City as a Text.”
Footage, in the shooting of which SAS students took part, is available in the official group of the project VKontakte and in the official partner of the project — Odnoklassniki network. The episodes have already garnered more than 6 million views.
