On the Soul | Part 2

In the new episode of The Breakout podcast, Emile Alexandrov and Ahmed Elgandur continue their in-depth discussion of the concept of the soul. They analyze how different philosophical traditions, fr om ancient thought to Eastern teachings— understand its nature and purpose.

Ahmed and Emile turn to the Platonic tradition and the teachings of Ibn Sina, wh ere the soul appears as a mind designed to overcome bodily passions. They also consider al-Ghazali's approach, in which spiritual growth is based on the gradual ascent of love — from oneself to one's neighbor and to God. In contrast, the Buddhist perspective reveals the soul through the cycle of rebirth and liberation from attachment.
