Project Development in Film and Media

The course is designed for those who want to become producers in the field of advertising and corporate filmmaking. We will break down how real projects are born — from the first client call to the final concept presentation. Using industry examples, you will go through the journey that every producer takes:

  • receive a brief from a potential client and learn to understand what they really need;
  • develop an idea and turn it into a script that can be sold;
  • get acquainted with the departments of film production and learn who is responsible for what on a film set;
  • learn to calculate budgets and make producer decisions based on the budget;
  • put together a concept presentation with a mood board, references, and an animatic — just like in a real agency or production company.
  • The course will culminate in a pitch before industry experts, where students will present their own projects and receive feedback from practitioners. After the course, you will understand how real production works, be able to confidently present ideas to a client, and competently manage the process of creating a commercial or film.

    The course is based on a practical approach that allows students, using expert case studies, to create their own projects, analyse the results, and consequently create the best version of their project. The course programme will be built around the preparatory stages of media production and filmmaking: development and pre‑production. Briefing a potential client, developing an idea, presenting it, and preparing for implementation."
