Media Production
The elective course is based on the creation of audiovisual works at the intersection of documentary filmmaking, journalism, and blogging. Today, documentary films are experiencing a renaissance thanks to the rise of video-on-demand (VOD) platforms. Documentary filmmakers are seeking new narrative techniques and unique ideas.
The course focuses on observation, allowing students to create their own original projects, analyze the results, and refine them to produce a better final product. It covers the main stages of media production, including development, production, and post-production. To provide students with the most practical and useful information, we have eliminated lengthy preparatory stages. Students will learn how to use a camera, shoot footage, edit, and iterate upon their projects.
"Theory is when you know everything, but nothing works. Practice is when things work, but nobody understands why." - Albert Einstein
This course adopts a "progressive JPEG" approach to video production. The idea is that students start with a 100% complete project at the beginning, but it is refined and improved over time through multiple iterations. Each time the project is screened, the student's vision evolves, refines, and takes final shape.
