Introduction to International Relations
Introduction to International Relations is a oundational course for International Relations major. It introduces students to the main theories, approaches, and debates in the field. Moreover, the course familiarizes students with some of the key issues in international politics, such as war and peace, regional integration, development, and security.
A significant portion of the course is devoted to the learning of traditional theories in IR and the concepts they employ. As the study of international politics is theoretical, the course emphasizes that different theoretical perspectives generate different perceptions of the world, based on their underlying assumptions.
Therefore, the course aims to broaden students' perspectives by introducing alternative ways of viewing international issues. This will allow them to develop a more nuanced understanding of these issues and to question their own and others' perspectives on the world.
Ultimately, the course aims to equip students with the tools to analyze international issues more critically and to develop their own stance towards these issues with greater confidence.
