History and Film
The course provides an overview of the major movements and trends in film history from the birth of cinema to to the present day. The course examines the main trends in world cinema, the regularities of the development of cinematography as an art. Cinematography is considered as a social art reflecting historical, economic and political processes.
Also, students learn the diversity of aesthetic concepts in cinema from the second half of the 20th century to the beginning of the 21st century. The emphasis is going to be placed on Soviet (and later Russian) cinema and European cinema.
